Living Room Arrangement Ideas: Elegant Formal Living Room

My formal living room it’s finally finished and after waiting for over three months my accent armchairs have arrived! I love how this living room came together and I hope it gives you some ideas for your living room arrangements.

It feels so good to finish this room. It’s the first room you see when you walk in and it is for sure one if the prettiest rooms in the house!

Living Room Arrangement Ideas

The formal living room it’s open to the dinning room, which in turn it’s open to our family room. I decided to go with the sofa and two armchairs layout. The chairs are a better option when you have a open floor plan layout.

You have seen it before in my Christmas Living room and the Spring & Easter home tour. However, the little changes I made transformed this room into a brand new room!

Living Room Accent Chairs

First, my new Frech Bergere chairs have arrived. I waited a while for them, but it was worth the wait. It took me a while to decide on the accent chairs for this room, mostly because armchairs can cost an arm and a leg.

In the end I decided to go with these chairs from Restoration Hardware. I love RH, but their shipping charges are just unreal :(.

However, it was still cheaper than other places. Plus they match my dining room chairs that are also from RH.

As you can see the chairs definitely complete the space. Before, the living room was just open to the dining room. Now, I have the perfect conversation area and the room feels complete.

Living Room Rug

Now, lets take a moment to stare at my new rug!!!! Omg I love it! After getting an Orian rug for my bedroom I ended up getting another one for my formal too. Obviously I’m a little obsessed with this rug. I went with the Orian Biscay Indoor/Outdoor rug. This rug is such a statement piece, it really has transformed my living room. 

It’s so gorgeous and looks great with my floors. Take a look at the old rug on the photo above. Not only it didn’t really pop, but the size was smaller. Which in turn made the room look much smaller.

The new Orian Rug makes the whole room look much brighter and bigger. It also grounds the room much better. I love how the whole room looks now! I walk in here and I feel that I should pop some champagne!

My West Elm Terrace brass coffee table gives the room a touch of modern, a nice contrast to the more formal lines of the new Frech Style arm chairs.

Living Room Arrangements Ideas With Fireplace

This room didn’t come with a fireplace. However, since this is my pretty room, I really wanted to have one here. Especially since I already had the Anthropologie Gleaming Primrose mirror from Anthropologie, that is one of my most loved purchases.

The solution was a standalone electric fireplace. It was a bit of a splurge for me but oh so worth it! I think the fireplace and vintage mirror combination really brings a touch of glam to this formal living room.

Ikea Vittsjo Shelf

The shelf unit in the corner it’s my Ikea Vittsjo hack. This was a really cheap option and a way to balance the room since this wall only has one window.

I have also kept my Erktop sofa. One day I plan on upgrading but for now I will keep it since is still in really good conditions.

This room now looks like the perfect place to have some tea (or champagne!) with friends and family. I can’t wait to style for each season but specially Christmas!
